6200 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CACalifornia fitting rules
A summary of the usual requirements. The full statute includes additional conditions and medical exceptions.
- Front side windows
- Clear film: at least 88% film VLT and 70% combined VLT, with required certification
- Windshield
- Top strip only under the standard exception, subject to height, color and reflection limits
- Rear windows
- Rear sides may be shaded; a tinted rear window requires compliant mirrors on both sides
The right comparison starts with the glass.
A darker-looking film does not tell you how much solar energy it rejects. We compare the product data, measure the existing glass and explain the available options. Your quote names the film and the windows included.
- The film is named on your quote.
- Light-transmission requirements checked before fitting.
- Care and curing instructions provided at collection.

From the waiting bench
They explained the film type and the shade as two different decisions.
The quote named the film and which windows were included.
I got clear instructions about when I could open the windows again.
Questions
What do the shade percentages mean?
They describe visible light transmission. A lower number means less light passes through. The swatches are illustrative; the existing glass also affects the result.
What is allowed on front side windows?
California’s clear-film exception includes at least 88% light transmission through the film and at least 70% through the combined glass and film, plus certification and other conditions. We check the proposed installation against the full requirements.
Can any shade go on the rear windows?
Rear side windows have different rules from the front sides. A tinted rear window requires compliant mirrors on both sides. We check the vehicle before fitting.
Will ceramic make the cabin cold?
No film guarantees a cabin temperature. Performance depends on the product, glass and conditions. We compare total solar energy rejection from the manufacturer’s test data.

Call with your vehicle or glass dimensions. We will explain the films and arrange a quote.
